KI principal sponsor of new book: Modern British Furniture - Design since 1945
KI is amongst the principal sponsors of a new book commissioned by KI's Group Managing Director - EMEA , Jonathan M. Hindle (Master of The Furniture Makers' Company 2013-14 ) and by other prominent members of The Furniture Makers Company. The book was marked to commemorate the Company's Golden Anniversary and Royal Charter year. Published by the Victoria and Albert Museum, "Modern British Furniture: Design Since 1945" was written by design historian and curator Lesley Jackson and focuses on ingenuity and inventiveness amongst British designers and companies from 1945 to the present.
From pioneers such as Robin Day and Robert Heritage to contemporary superstars including Tom Dixon and Ron Arad, this book explores the stories of entrepreneurs, manufacturers, and talented designers, recognising their contributions to this world-class industry. According to the V&A, this is the only authoritative publication on British post-war and contemporary furniture and expects it will become the pre-eminent reference book on this important period of British furniture design and manufacture.
The book is available for purchase, with proceeds going towards The Furniture Makers' Company, the furnishing industry's charity and patron, promoting welfare, education, and excellence in design and production.
